Recently I was rummaging around in a thrift store and came across a book entitled “This is Christmas!” Opening its cover and thumbing through the pages, I discovered recipes and entertainment tips. This book brought to my mind how easy it is to misconstrue what the true meaning of Christmas is.
I decided to refresh my soul with the truth about Christmas by using an Advent Reading Plan. This plan includes prophecy written about Christ over 500 years before He was born; His genealogy; the account of His birth; and the Apostle John’s eyewitness account of Jesus, the Son of Man. I would encourage you to join with me in using this plan.
Also let me suggest that we share the plan with others. Some recipients may respond with this question, “Why Christmas in the first place?” We have the answer — John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” May the love in our heart propel us to share “This is Christmas!”
