Recently I read an article about Adam Busby, the father of  six daughters, two-year-old quintuplets and a six-year-old daughter; the article was entitled “Super Dad.” I can only imagine what it must be like when his daughters are all calling his name at the same time, perhaps somewhat confusing and overwhelming. Then I thought about God, my “Abba, Father!” He is able to hear all of His children at the same time without confusion and being overwhelmed. Psalm 139:1-4 tells me He is everywhere I am and even understands what I am thinking, therefore this validates that He hears me when I call. This truth applies to all of His children, even at the same time and in so many different languages and dialects.

Back to Mr. Busby, he also said he has found himself doing things he would never have imagined including picking out clothes and matching hair bows, as well as using a round hairbrush on his girls’ hair which he claims he is better at than his wife. “Abba, Father” is the Creator of all things and thus he knows all about his creation and is perfectly able to do all that is necessary regarding it. “All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being” (John 1:3).

Each of Mr. Busby’s daughters has a different personality, which he acknowledges in the article. He also says he must be continually aware of this in relating to each of them. Try as he likes, but he will never be able to fully know them completely because it is not humanly possible. God, however, does know the total persona of each of His children. Psalm 139: 1-4 makes this clear:

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
² You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
³ You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
⁴ Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Lord, You know it all.”

Adam and his wife Danielle have been assisted by volunteers and donations and he gives credit to friends for helping them “keep it all together.” I realize the magnitude of who God is when I read He owns the world and everything it contains (Psalm 50:12) and is self-sufficient (Acts 17:24-25), unlike the Busbys who really need and benefit from the assistance of others.

I am convinced from the article that Adam Busby is committed to being a “Super Dad” but he nor any other father can accomplish this fully, only “Abba, Father” is capable. Just these few incommunicable attributes I have noted make this evident. Furthermore, mind-boggling are these attributes but nonetheless true. My trust in “Abba Father” is strongly connected with these incommunicable attributes.

“Abba, Father,” there is no father like You. I am so thankful You have called me to be Your child and for the joy that comes because of this relationship I have with You. Remind me of Your attributes when faced with the day-to-day challenges of life, remind me to call on You daily, and to trust You to take care of me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
