Ps 10:12-13 Arise, O Lord! Punish the wicked, O God! Do not ignore the helpless! Why do the wicked get away with despising God? They think, “God will never call us to account.”

No matter how hard we try to be “good” it seems the “bad” have everything. Comparing yourself to others is a dangerous game. We struggle to be a good example to others, pay our bills on time, take care of everything and everyone, and then we see someone, who never seems to have the problems we have.

Think about “famous” people: actors, singers, politicians, who seem to have it all but may have hidden problems that come crashing down around them. Old accounts with missing money, alcohol or drug issues, or even criminal records. Everyone will be held accountable for his or her actions. The people who seem to have it all together, might or might not. We don’t know their heart. We are all held accountable, if not on this earth, definitely in heaven.

Young people today have a very difficult time with all the world’s expectations. All the stress of finishing school, finding a great job, then a mate can be overwhelming. Being able to look ahead and consider consequences of actions is part of maturity and being an adult. Self-accountability is paramount to achieve the goal of self-sufficiency as an adult.

Patience and prayer help us be accountable for ourselves; thus able to make decisions sustainable through life. In this financially unstable environment, we should think about the future. Waiting for marriage and children is not a bad idea.  It shows maturity and forethought. If we are accountable to God, then we need to be accountable for ourselves. When we are, we have the assurance that God will help us through all circumstances of life.
