Our motive for writing is simply this: we want you to enjoy… 1 John 1:4, The Message Bible
Sherree Funk has four published Bible studies for teens: Joshua: Strong and Courageous, Lydia of Philippi: Believer in the Lord, Ruth and Boaz: Woman of Excellence, Man of Honor, Peter: Rock Star from Galilee.
She is currently working on five projects in various stages of “not quite finished”.
A Spirited Vessel: The Life and Times of a Monk-Designed Mission Boat in Alaska is the story of the Anna Jackman, a boat commissioned by the Presbyterian Church in 1958 to serve the communities of southeast Alaska. Her aunt and uncle were chaplains on the Anna Jackman in the 1960s. Sherree includes stories of many others who skippered, designed, or spent summers on the boat. After the Anna Jackman was sold in the 1980’s, it took on new life as both a scientific research support vessel and an eco-tour/floating home for Captain Dean Rand. Sherree and her husband took a short voyage on the boat, renamed Discovery, in 2012.
My Journey to Chilar is the autobiographical story of Sherree’s friend Kaye Kvam, who spent six months in the mountains of Mexico in 1974 at the age of 21. She plunged into the medical field as a volunteer in a remote clinic and never looked back. The story she tells is one of perseverance and is particularly poignant because this friend now has advanced ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s.
Hannah Unhinged, her fifth teen Bible sturdy, is a workbook with seven chapters on Hannah, mother of Samuel. She expects this project to be complete and available on Ingram Spark before the end of the year.
The Busy Businesswoman’s Abbreviated Bible Study (tentative title) is a 30-day devotional book on Lydia and the letter to the Philippians.
Disorganized is a novel in its early stages about a diverse group of people who can’t stand “organized religion,” but eventually find grace and community in a disorganized church. The characters are walking and riding by her home in New Orleans every day.
