When Southern Christian Writers attended the Louisiana Book Festival, I stopped at a table promoting a local radio station. The ladies behind the table told me about Story Corps. StoryCorps is an American non-profit organization which aims to record, preserve, and share the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. Its mission statement is “to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all—one story at a time”. I shared the information with the other writers and invited a friend to do an interview with me.
I could have talked about writing with an author friend, but the first person that came to mind was Lisa Abramson. Lisa had a profound impact on my life after an illness that had me in an out of the hospital for six months. I wanted to tell that story and encourage others who have suffered with a illness that broke their health.
