Barbour, David Marchuck
David Marchuck Barbour is a Christian author and retired senior auditor with the Department of Defense’s Office of Inspector General. He also served as internal controls manager for Raytheon Polar Services in Antarctica.
His illustrated children’s read-aloud book, The Gang of Twenty and Six, received a Colorado Independent Publishers Association award in 2012. In 2026, Barbour began developing the Tarkington Series, centered on Eula Mae Tarkington, a fictional woman from Choctaw County, Alabama, whose story explores biblical truths about surrender and sanctification.
Memorial of Stones, the series’ flagship novel, introduces Eula Mae’s journey through first-person and limited third-person narration. Subsequent books expand that story through the perspectives of other characters, exploring their encounters with Eula Mae during the same period. Barbour writes to encourage thoughtful reflection on the Christian walk, spiritual discovery, and growth. He likens his novels to songs with necessary rests—pauses that invite readers to meditate and allow the Lord to apply the story’s truths to their own lives.
After his first wife died in 2016 following forty-three years of marriage, Barbour met his second wife through Christian Mingle. He credits the Lord’s providence and grace for bringing them together.
