It Was Then That I Carried You

By Barbara Jones

Inspired by David when he picked me up for church.

It’s been a hard life

Much different than being his wife,

On my own and writing this song

And still asking why?

I’ve been down many roads,

Meeting people, then moving on,

Always search, never satisfied,

He shoulda, coulda, and I still ask why?

CHORUS

Why dear God did I fall in love?

Did you know I’d be here because

Too many years gone by and I still ask why?

Scattered, shattered pieces, left to die.

Only you can make sense of it all.

Only you make me stand up tall

Only you save the best for last,

As you pick me up and we both laugh!

(Talk) It’s a blast now, and …….

Oh! God! I want to laugh

And forget about all the rest.

I wanna laugh with you,

And dance with you for eternity

CHORUS

Why dear God did I fall in love?

Did you know I’d be here because

Too many years gone by and I still ask why?

Scattered, shattered pieces, left to die.

Oh! God! I want to laugh

And forget about all the rest.

I wanna laugh with you,

And dance with you for eternity

END STRUM AND TALK

Now I know

It’s about me and you, and that is why!

You took the broken pieces, so I could tell,

You carried me, and I live to tell

The reason why
