Somehow, Someday, One Way or Another
By Barbara Jones
Have you ever tried to see someone,
But not with eyes made of flesh?
Have you ever heard someone’s voice,
By reading the words of someone else?
Heard every detail, and every kind deed,
A person loved in action and always met a need?
Have you always felt left out in that,
And watched someone else succeed?
Have you ever smelled a flower, and didn’t know its name?
But its fragrance stayed with you, always remained?
Or you felt you knew a person, though you never knew their name?
Married 39 years, and in the marriage, both stayed?
CHORUS
I’m telling the story of Rory Myers,
As Teena, his wife, tells me with smiles,
All the unseen, unknown, little things he does,
Before and during, and after a long run.
You, see, her friend asked Teena to go with her, on a long run
Said Rory would be working and wouldn’t be home,
So, Teena went but all she thought about,
Were all the little things, he would be doing but was left out.
As I heard about him, I wondered how he looked
How tall, the color of his eyes, the sound of his voice?
Then, I felt Rory and Teena’s presence, and their smiles made me melt!
That’s all it took, I finally saw, what marriage meant.
Somehow, someday, one way or another
We’ll tell our story individually and together,
Give God all praise and thank Him for each other,
Nevermore wander but satisfied to be together.
We all have a part, purpose and plan,
Together the body moves hand in hand!
Each part does what only it can.
Remember, this couple, is a woman and a man.
God created male and female, you see,
To work together, to make a family!
One dies, one lives, one is born,
With different skin colors, but under the same sun.
Do your best, make your mark in life,
Leave behind good memories, and that takes time.
We fall and get back up, and try again,
Whatever you do, pray to God, and follow Him!
CHORUS
Somehow, some day, one way or another,
Your life is a song from your father and mother
Rory and Teena this is yours
Made with struggle, decision, laughter and tears.
As she wrote about how it is,
Between a man and his wife,
I thought of other’s marriages, broken in half,
God said, “no piece is lost, and then He laughed!
He said, “You see, I make the last first and the first lasts,”
I resurrect new hearts, all is not lost,
But changes into beautiful butterflies, with colors and designs,
Made with Love, and in my times.
So, all of you married, single, divorced,
Come to me, I make the best out of the worst.
You’ll be so surprised, to see the wonder of it all,
As I turn caterpillars into the most, beautiful butterflies,
Flying from my hand and remember you all are mine.

Inspired by Teena Myers, as she wrote on SCW about missing her husband, Rory, and all the little things he does for her before and during and after a long run.
