Without Poetry

Without Poetry

Where would we be,

Without poetry?

Well truthfully, I don’t know,

For it’s the stanzas and rhymes,

That express our feelings so.

Yes, feelings of hurt and pain,

Experienced time and again,

Within our  heart and soul, it’s true,

It’s what keeps us going, yes, me and you.

Many love songs began as mire poetry,

Words that soothe our minds and set us free.

Yes, poetry is everywhere, you know,

In songs, books and everywhere we go,

And it’s been used throughout the years,

To express struggles, hopes and fears,

Known as therapeutic sentiment, it’s true,

So, on today I’m recommending that you,

Begin to celebrate National Poetry Month with me,

Read a poem or write a poem and then you’ll see,

While living this thing called life,

Everyone encounters some strife,

But don’t stop, no, don’t you quit,

Instead, just simply write about it.

Begin to express your thoughts and feelings my dear,

Now I hope I’ve made myself very clear,

It’s a way to express our deepest sorrow,

It’s our joy and our hope for tomorrow,

And it’s our reality,

C’mon now and celebrate with me,

For where oh where would we be?

In a world without Poetry.

Happy National Poetry Month
