Inexpensive, Large-Scale Book Promotion Strategies for Authors

By Rosemary Althoff

At the end of this short post are two resources I first developed for myself and now offer to you.

  • .pdf document titled: “Inexpensive, Large-Scale Book Promotion Strategies for Authors
  • Sell-Sheet image

I’ve written several traditionally published books, and I keep on writing. When I was a novice author, I had the idea that you write a book, manage to get it into print form, get a publisher, and watch the sales roll in. Now I know better. No matter what kind of “published” I am, if I want to get my message out AND earn an income from it, I have marketing work to do. Long-term marketing with big goals.

After sampling many books and articles about book marketing, I almost despaired.

Marketing and self-promotion have not been my strength. Also, I have a limited budget. I’m not young. I’m not bursting with energy.

But I’ve had EXPERIENCE. Job-hunting experience. For instance, when my children reached college age, I searched for a management position that paid well. And I found one. What I did to get the job I needed is also what I can do to promote myself, my books, and my helpful message to a broad audience. The hunt involves three major steps:

  • Know what you uniquely have that helps the people who need someone like you.
  • Identify and contact people or companies and offer your services.
  • Keep track of who was contacted and how they responded.

There’s plenty more to book promoting. The know-how and to-do lists are endless. But the good news is: “You don’t have to do it ALL.” You choose your set of the to-do items that fit who you are, what you want, what you can afford. I sketched out, brainstormed, and formed a general task list for myself. The draft document is available for you to read and use. Just click on the button to download a short .pdf version of the article: “Inexpensive, Large-Scale Book Promotion Strategies for Authors.” I’m also showing a Sell-Sheet for my Christian sci-fi series, “A Soul’s Warfare.”

Let me know if what I’m offering helps you. Also, offer questions, comments, or criticisms as needed.

Wishing you the very best success with your own works! Jesus bless you.
